About Program

Program Overview

This part-time course provides an understanding of Continuous Improvement (CI) principles and practice. Participants will develop their capability in using CI tools and techniques to solve problems and implement CI projects. The assessment includes a CI Green Belt Project (50%) and an MCQ exam (50%). This course suits individuals seeking to integrate workplace activity with studies and enhance the organization's performance through project delivery.

Program Outline

Participants will develop their capability in the use of diagnostic, problem-solving and project management tools and techniques that support CI deployment within the business and extended value streams. An integrative project (CI Green Belt project) draws on workshops delivered over the course of the study programme. This approach leverages opportunities for ‘situated learning’ in a course designed for post-experience learners. Learning from in-company project work ensures a good blend of classroom and practical activity.

Outline:

This course comprises a single 15-credit module delivered over one semester. It is designed for part-time students and includes a work-based learning assignment (CI Green Belt Project). Participants will join a series of workshops delivered over a combination of Wednesday and Thursday (9.00am - 5.00pm) sessions and a Saturday morning review session (9.00am - 1pm) once per month over a three-month period.

Assessment:

Candidates will achieve the learning outcomes via two assessed components: A CI Green Belt Project delivered in the workplace (50% of the total assessment marks). The main aims behind this assignment are to: ✓ Enable participants to demonstrate competence in the concepts, tools, and practices covered in the course. ✓ Allow participants to leverage the programme content to initiate, implement, and achieve immediate improvements in their workplace. An MCQ exam (50% of the total assessment marks). The duration is 90 minutes plus 20 minutes reading time at the outset to review case study material, i.e., 110 minutes in total.

Teaching:

This course is delivered through a combination of workshops and a work-based learning assignment. The workshops are delivered over a combination of Wednesday and Thursday (9.00am - 5.00pm) sessions and a Saturday morning review session (9.00am - 1pm) once per month over a three-month period.

Other:

If you wish to study on a part-time basis, integrate your studies with workplace activity and incorporate your work experience into an accredited learning process, this course will suit your needs. In particular it provides benefits to the participant through workshop and work[1]based learning and to the organisation through the delivery of a Green Belt Project.
