CT6013: Advanced Practices in Paediatric Assessment of Hearing
Program Overview
This advanced assessment and habilitation module focuses on behavioral audiological assessment and management of hearing loss in children aged 6 months and older. Students will gain an understanding of appropriate assessments based on developmental stages and evaluate theories and literature related to hearing aid fitting and management in this population. The module aligns with the MSc Hearing, Balance and Communication Postgraduate Programme and is also available for non-credit CPD purposes.
Program Outline
- Module Content: This module will discuss the principles of advanced assessment of hearing and habilitation in children aged 6 months and older. The module will focus on the behavioural audiological assessment and habilitation in infants and younger children within the context of child-centred and family friendly services, as well as the epidemiology and differential diagnosis of hearing loss in this population.
- Learning Outcomes: On successful completion of this module, students should be able to:
- Characterise a wide range of behavioral assessments of hearing for infants and children.
- Critically evaluate the literature pertinent to the assessment and management of hearing loss in the paediatric population.

- This module can be also be attended for CPD (non credit bearing) purposes.
- The requirements are aligned with the requirements of the MSc Hearing, Balance and Communication Postgraduate Programme.
There is also a €35 application fee.
