Business Information Systems

The BSc in Business Information Systems (BIS) specialises in the key skills that are essential to the success of professionals in modern information technology and information systems. The goals of this four-year degree course are to educate, collaborate, and innovate.


Course Outline

Course Practicalities

BIS Placement Programme

The BIS placement programme provides students with a six-month paid business internship as part of the course. The placement team offers tailored support throughout the placement process, including CV preparation, identifying core placement goals, and developing interview techniques.

The BIS curriculum provides students with a diverse and practical set of collaboration, communication, problem-solving, system development, and management skills. This prepares students well for the working world in a broad range of industries.


Requirements

  • Leaving Certificate Entry Requirements: at least six subjects, with a minimum grade H5 in two subjects and a minimum grade O6/H7 in four other subjects
  • English and Irish are requirements for all programmes unless the applicant is exempt from Irish
  • EU/EFTA/UK applicants: equivalent school-leaving qualification, with review of equivalent grades and proof of English level
  • Mature students: 23 years of age on or before 1 January of the application year, with a statement of interest and Irish Leaving Certificate Maths (or equivalent)
  • QQI FET entry: required level of distinctions in required subjects, with application via the CAO
  • Non-EU applicants: educational qualifications of a standard equivalent to the Irish Leaving Certificate, with competency in English

Fees and Costs

  • EU students: tuition fees paid by the State, with annual student contribution and capitation fees payable by the student
  • Non-EU students: tuition fees applicable, with information available on the Fee Schedule
  • Scholarships may be available
