Course Overview
The BA in Geography is a comprehensive program that equips students with critical skills to understand the complex relationship between people and the environment. The course explores the diverse ways in which humans interact with natural systems, revealing the intricate relationships between social, cultural, environmental, and physical processes.
Course Structure
The program is structured over three years, with students taking a combination of core and optional modules. In Year 1, students take 15 credits from Geography and an additional 45 credits from three other First Arts subjects. In Years 2 and 3, students can opt to take Geography as a major, joint, or minor subject, with the flexibility to tailor their studies to their own interests.

- GG1014 Human Geographies: Approaching Global Challenges
- GG1015 Applied Geography

Field Trips
Students are required to participate in field trips, including a week-long trip in Ireland or Western Europe, which provides hands-on experience and practical skills.

Requirements
Refer to CK101 and CK108 for admission requirements. Non-EU applicants must have educational qualifications equivalent to the Irish Leaving Certificate and demonstrate competency in the English language.
Fees and Costs
The State pays tuition fees for EU students eligible under the Free Fees Scheme. The annual student contribution and capitation fees are payable by the student. Non-EU students are required to pay tuition fees, which vary depending on the program.
How to Apply
Irish and European applicants apply through the CAO, while non-EU applicants apply online through the UCC Apply portal. Mature applicants apply through the CAO by February 1.
