Music Education, M.M.Ed.

School of Music

Gain additional knowledge in pedagogy, music theory and history, educational research, assessment, curriculum development and more. A teaching certification is required. Online courses are available.

In collaboration with the USC College of Education, the master of music education degree is designed for music students who already have teaching certification. Enhance your general music knowledge and understanding of learning theories, and familiarize yourself with cutting-edge pedagogy and research. Choose from a recital track, a thesis track or neither.

What You’ll Study

Study music education foundations and techniques, graduate music courses, professional education courses in the College of Education, courses in music learning and teaching and practicum opportunities. Examine learning diversities and education trends. Participate in ensembles and collaborate with other students in real teaching experiences through Music for Your Life.
