Collaborate with your peers and mentors to explore culture worldwide from the ancient world to contemporary America and beyond. You learn to examine historical sources to better understand the world today and make an impact on the future. Our graduates take their research and communication skills into business, journalism, education, law and more.
Program Highlights
- Beyond the Classroom: Work with a professor on research or intern with a campus or community museum, archives or library.
- Study Abroad: Travel to the University of Warwick in England to gain field experience and new perspectives on historical events.
- Community of Scholars: The History Center brings in top historians, authors and other culture makers to share unique perspectives on history.
- Independent Research: Seniors can do independent research and write a thesis while earning Graduation with Leadership Distinction.
What You’ll Study
Courses cover a wide range of topics and times from the ancient to the modern in Africa, Europe, Asia and the Americas. Enjoy deep discussions in small, upper-level courses, and complete a senior seminar or a thesis on independent research. An accelerated master's degree is available for history majors wishing to teach social studies.
