The Broadcast Journalism program at the University of South Carolina prepares students for a career in broadcasting, teaching them to report and narrate stories, shoot and produce video, and practice play-by-play and public speaking.

Program Highlights

• Senior Semester Newsroom: Experience a capstone program where students help produce a daily news program run entirely by students.
• An Expert Faculty: Learn from and be mentored by an extraordinary faculty filled with long-time professionals and award-winners.
• Get an Internship: Find an internship through resources in major television markets, with professional sports teams, or even in your hometown.
• Pick a Network: Graduates have gone on to work at major networks such as ABC, BET, CBS, CNN, ESPN, FOX, and NBC.

What You’ll Study

After completing the well-rounded Carolina Core and foundational requirements, students will learn to report and narrate stories, shoot and produce video, and practice play-by-play and public speaking via major courses. Students may also decide to pursue a sports media concentration as part of their studies.
