Overview of the Industrial Control and Automation Engineering Program

The Industrial Control and Automation Engineering program at Murdoch University is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of industrial control engineering, including practical hands-on skills applicable to a wide range of research and industry-related activities. The program focuses on computer-based measurement and control, as well as the computing technologies used to operate modern industrial and autonomous systems.

Program Structure

The program consists of 33 credit points, with required units including:

  • ENG109: Engineering Computing Systems
  • ENG208: Fundamentals of DC Circuits
  • ENG209: Fundamentals of AC Circuits
  • ENG251: PLC Systems
  • ENG252: Embedded Systems
  • ENG391: Process Control
  • ENG392: SCADA and Instrumentation Systems
  • ENG551: Microcontrollers and Data Communication
  • ENG552: Industrial Control Systems
  • ENG553: Industrial Process Control
  • ICT515: Foundations of Data Science

Entry Requirements

To be eligible for the program, students must meet the minimum academic and English requirements. The requirements vary depending on the means of admission, including:

  • University study: Successful completion of 4 units at an Australian University or Open Universities Australia (OUA)
