Program Overview


Overview of the Bachelor of Laws/Bachelor of Arts Program

The Bachelor of Laws/Bachelor of Arts program at Murdoch University combines a law degree with an arts degree, providing students with a unique set of skills and knowledge. This combined degree allows students to gain a competitive edge in their future careers by developing additional skills in areas such as communication, problem-solving, and critical thinking.


Structure of the Program

The program consists of 120 credit points, with 72 credit points dedicated to law core units and 24 credit points dedicated to arts major units. Students can choose from a range of arts majors, including Asian Studies, Community Development, English and Creative Writing, History, Indonesian, International Aid and Development, Japanese, Philosophy, Politics and International Studies, Sociology, Sustainable Development, and Theatre and Creative Production.


Entry Requirements

To be eligible for the program, students must meet the minimum academic and English language requirements. The minimum academic requirements include:


  • Successful completion of one of the following: Murdoch FlexiTrack High Program in Year 12, TLC Learning for Tomorrow in Year 12, or an enabling or bridging program at another Australian university.
  • Successful completion of 2 units at an Australian University or Open Universities Australia (OUA).
  • Completion of a Pre-Law course with a 60% average.
  • Completion of a Murdoch University Preparation Course (MUPC) or Foundation Studies Course with a minimum average final mark of 78% or higher.
  • Completion of a Diploma or Advanced Diploma with a minimum average final mark of 60% or higher.

The minimum English language requirements include:


  • Evidence of completing Year 11 and 12 in Australia at any level (domestic applicants only).
  • A STAT Written English score of 140 or higher.
  • Scaled mark of 50 or higher in one of the following: English ATAR, Literature ATAR, or English as an Additional Dialect (EALD) ATAR.

Fees and Scholarships

The fees for the program vary depending on the level of study and the year of commencement. The estimated first-year fee for domestic students is $16,067, and for international students, it is $36,730. The university offers a range of scholarships to help students with the costs of their studies.
