Program Overview


Course Overview

The aim of this programme is to give participants an opportunity to develop a detailed knowledge of the key aircraft technical services areas. These comprise of Aircraft Records during a lease transition process, Continued Airworthiness Management (CAMO) ensuring compliance with Aircraft Manufactures Maintenance Programmes and governing EASA /FAA regulations, and of Part 21 Design, examining Airworthiness Legislation, it’s impact on both aircraft design and any minor or major modifications.


Certificate in Aircraft Technical Services is developed in partnership with AAV Aviation Services Training and the Aviation industry.


Designed and delivered by leading experienced industry professionals, the aim of this programme is to give experienced aircraft maintenance personnel an opportunity to develop a detailed knowledge of the key areas relating to Aircraft Technical Services.


Course Content

Year 1

  • Aircraft Records
    • The aim of this module is to provide an opportunity for students to develop a detailed knowledge of the aircraft technical documentation required during the aircraft lease transition process.
    • They will be able to devise a structure, plan and accomplish the Lease Transition checklist requirements, ensuring no documentation gaps within the aircraft’s history.
    • They will be able to evaluate, report and provide feedback during the process, working with the Lessor and Lessee to manage expectations and achieve a successful redelivery of all required documentation.
  • Part 21 Design
    • The aim of this module is give a fundamental knowledge of Initial airworthiness legislation and how it impacts aircraft design and design changes.
    • It will introduce the student to the theory and practice of Initial Airworthiness, providing a detailed knowledge of the development process for major and minor aircraft modification and repairs.
  • Continued Airworthiness Management Organisation
    • The aim of this module is to provide an opportunity to students to develop a detailed knowledge of the range of responsibilities of a CAMO department and Maintenance Planning Group, which include the delivery of the aircraft maintenance work package to ensure the aircraft remains fully compliant with the Maintenance Program.
    • On successful completion of this module the student will be capable of completing a Lease Transition CAMO project which includes Induction, Management and Delivery.

Entry Requirements

  1. Applicants are required to hold an aircraft maintenance qualification or aviation qualification at Level 6 or above or with relevant industry experience.

    • ENGLISH LANGUAGE: Applicants who do not have English as their first language must ensure they satisfy English Language requirements. For entry to undergraduate courses, a minimum score of 5.5 in an IELTS exam is required. For postgraduate courses, a minimum of 6.0 is required. It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure their English proficiency meets these requirements.

Delivery

  • The course will run over one academic year from Monday 8th September 2025.
  • Classes will take place one evening per week (Thursdays) from 6pm to 9pm
  • What will the time commitment be?
    • Each 5 credits will normally equate to approximately 100 Total Learning Hours. Total Learning Hours includes the time you spend in class (lectures, tutorials, practical elements) and the time you spend completing work outside of college. The balance between these two varies by discipline, and by level of study. You should bear in mind that the workload will increase at particular times e.g. when assignments are due.
  • Assessment
    • Continuous assessment (100% online).
  • Qualification
    • Certificate in Aircraft Technical Services (Special Purpose Award, Level 7, 30 ECTS)
  • Fees
    • This programme will be Springboard+ funded in 2025. Successful applicants in employment will qualify for 90% Springboard+ funding & will be liable for the balance of the 10% fee of €300. Successful applicants on a qualifying DSP payment will qualify for 100% funding.
  • Application Deadline
    • Limited Places
    • Places are allocated on a first come first served basis, prioritizing unemployed and returning applicants.
    • The programme will be closed once the maximum number of applicants is reached.
    • Final cut off for applications, if spaces are still available, will be Friday 18th July 2025.

Year 1:
