Program Overview


Aircraft Records Technician (Certificate, L7, 10 ECTS)

Course Overview

This Level 7 Special Purpose Award programme is aimed at aircraft maintenance personnel and offers them a career path into the Aircraft Leasing Industry as Aircraft Records Technicians.


On successful completion of this course, participants will have a detailed knowledge of the aircraft technical documentation required during an aircraft lease transition process. They will be able to devise a structure, plan and accomplish the Lease Transition checklist ensuring no documentation gaps the aircrafts history.


They will be able to evaluate, report and feedback during the process, working with the Lessor and Lessee to manage expectations and achieve a successful redelivery of all required documentation.


The course is developed by AAV Aviation Services Training in collaboration with CAE Parc Aviation, and is validated by the Department of Mechanical and Automobile Engineering at the Technological University of the Shannon as a Level 7 Special Purpose Award with 10 ECTS.


Entry Requirements

  • A Level 6 qualification in aircraft maintenance, an aviation qualification at Level 6 or above or with extensive experience in the aircraft maintenance industry.
  • Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) may be granted based on relevant experience and training in accordance with TUS’s RPL Policy.

Delivery

  • 10 weeks, 3 hours per week (online)
  • Thursday evenings from 7pm to 10pm.
  • Schedules are subject to change.

Time Commitment

  • Each 5 credits will normally equate to approximately 100 Total Learning Hours. Total Learning Hours includes the time you spend in class (lectures, tutorials, practical elements) and the time you spend completing work outside of college. The balance between these two varies by discipline, and by level of study. You should bear in mind that the workload will increase at particular times e.g. when assignments are due.

  • Continuous assessment (100% online).

  • This programme has secured funding under the Aviation Skillnet. Eligible companies and individuals can secure a contribution of 25% towards course fees. Subject to terms and conditions.

Application Deadline

  • September 2025 (TBC). Places are allocated on a first come first served basis. Course will be closed once the maximum number of applicants is reached. Courses run subject to viable numbers.
