This program aims to enhance effective leadership and team working skills through action learning. The program focuses on:

• Critically analyzing the meaning and importance of teamwork and leadership: Participants will engage in critical analysis of these concepts while working on a work-based issue.
• Building upon existing personal leadership and professional abilities: The program utilizes action learning to help participants develop their existing leadership skills further.
• Exploring the impact of learning through action learning on personal leadership development and organizational development: Participants will examine how action learning influences their personal leadership growth and the development of their organizations.

• The syllabus is driven by student ideas and participation, with anticipated topics including:

• Tools for leadership and management, problem-solving, and decision-making
• Effective leadership behaviors
• Emotion management in the workplace
• Team working, team development, and collaborative working
• Professional and legal accountability
• Organizational change
• The program also considers dilemmas and practical problems related to organizational culture/structures and quality issues.

• Teaching and Learning:
• The course is delivered through lectures and discussions in action learning sets, primarily led by student ideas.
• The action learning method leverages the existing skills and knowledge of the student group to achieve learning outcomes while addressing real issues raised by students.
• Students work in sets, sharing experiences, identifying actions for further development, and resolving issues.
• More formal resource sessions are used to introduce concepts and provide information.
• Students are required to attend 12 half-days over one semester at the University.

Upon completion of both modules, students will receive a 60-credit award of a PgCert Advanced Health Care Practice (Critical Care). Students can choose to exit at this point or continue on to the MSc Advanced Healthcare Practice (Critical Care).
• Flexibility: This Continuing Professional Development module can also be studied within the MSc Advanced Healthcare Practice (Clinical) award framework or as a single CPD of 30 credits at Level 7.
