Sport Coaching Graduate Certificate

Overview

The Graduate Certificate in Sport Coaching trains students in fundamentals they will need to become successful coaches in their chosen sport. Students obtain a comprehensive overview of coaching theory and practice, including basics for managing athlete development and the athlete's sport organization. The Certificate enables students to hone knowledge and skills in the theory and practice of sport coaching.

Certificate Requirements

Total credits: 15

This certificate may be pursued on a full-or part-time basis.

Required Courses

• SPMT 614: Legal Issues in Sport (3 credits)
• SPMT 618: Psychology of Coaching (3 credits)
• SPMT 631: Theoretical Models of Sport Coaching (3 credits) Total Credits: 9

Electives

• Select two courses from the following:
  • SRST 598: Special Topics
  • SPMT graduate courses
  • SRST graduate courses
  • RMGT graduate courses
  • Additional courses with advisor approval Total Credits: 6
