Program Overview


Gerontology Graduate Certificate

Overview

The graduate certificate in gerontology combines theoretical and applied coursework in aging with the student's graduate curriculum in any department. Because gerontology is by definition multidisciplinary, students are required to take coursework outside their major field.


Admissions

Applicants must meet the admission standards and application requirements specified in Graduate Admissions. The application process is competitive, and applications are considered for the fall and spring semesters.

Certificate Requirements

Total credits: 15


This certificate may be pursued on a full-or part-time basis.


To earn the certificate, students must earn a minimum GPA of 3.00 in the 15 credits of coursework outlined below, with no more than 3 credits with a grade of C.

  • PH 648: Aging and Health (3 credits)
  • SOCW 689: Clinical Practice with Older Adults (3 credits)
