Degree Overview:
The International Development Graduate Interdisciplinary Studies Program focuses on the interconnected process of social, political, economic, cultural, and environmental change. It aims to equip students with the theories, approaches, and practices of international development as implemented by multi-lateral, bi-lateral, and non-governmental organizations.
Objectives:
- To provide students with a comprehensive understanding of the history, theories, applications, and impacts of development.
- To challenge students to examine development practices from multiple disciplinary viewpoints and encourage critical thinking.
- To prepare students for a variety of employment opportunities related to international development, including volunteer work or employment in international and advocacy organizations, or business, policy, and research groups.
- To encourage critical thinking and responsible action in an interconnected world.
Outline:
Program Structure:
- The program requires a minimum of 12 credits, including a common course.
- Students must take at least 6 credits from Supporting Courses or additional courses approved by the International Development Board.
- A minimum of 9 credits must be at the 500-level or above.
