The program aims to achieve the following learning objectives:
- DESIGN ARTISTRY: Develop an understanding of the Lighting Designer as a collaborative artist, creative visionary, and technician, and by practicing organizational, design, and technical skills to realize a show from concept to production and building a portfolio of creative design and/or technical work.
Program Description:
The program curriculum includes courses in drawing, computer-aided drafting, lighting design, projection design, and design portfolio development. Students also participate in practicum classes where they apply their skills to departmental productions and live events. The program emphasizes the collaborative nature of theatre design, encouraging students to explore other design fields like sound, costume, and set design.

- Lighting designers for theatre, musicals, opera, or dance

- Portfolio Review: A successful portfolio review with CSU Theatre faculty is required for admission into the B.A. in Theatre, Lighting Design and Technology Concentration. The portfolio review also serves as a scholarship audition.
