Overview

The PhD Health and Exercise Sciences is a research-based program that allows students to investigate their chosen topic in depth and reach a profound understanding. The program is based in the School of Sport, Rehabilitation and Exercise Sciences, which has a proven track record of excellence in teaching, research, and applied sports science.

Entry Requirements

• A good honours degree or Masters degree, or equivalent, in a related subject is required.
• A well-developed research proposal is also essential.
• Students will normally be required to attend an interview/Skype interview for acceptance, and acceptance is subject to research expertise in the department.

English Language Requirements

• If English is not the first language, IELTS 6.5, or equivalent, with a minimum of 5.5 in all other components is required.

Structure

Course Structure

A research degree does not have a taught structure, giving students the chance to investigate their chosen topic in real depth and reach a profound understanding.

Assessment

The aim of undertaking a PhD is to train as an independent researcher who can critically assess other research work and have comprehensive knowledge of at least one area.

Fees and Funding

Home/UK Fee

• Ł5,006 per year
• Fees will increase for each academic year of study.

International Fee

• Ł22,550 per year
• Fees will increase for each academic year of study.
