Oral and Dental Sciences

Overview

The school combines laboratory-based and clinically-applied research and fosters a high level of collaboration between research groups in University. The research programme is funded by internal and external grants from charities, research councils, NIHR, UoB, industry and government.


Our postgraduate students belong to broad research communities in the Faculty of Health Sciences and the Bristol Doctoral College, and benefit from the wide training opportunities in addition to their specific subjects.

  • Home: full-time - £4,850 per year
  • Home: part-time (two years) - £2,425 per year
  • Overseas: full-time - £35,700 per year
  • Fees are subject to an annual review. For programmes that last longer than one year, please budget for up to an 8% increase in fees each year.
  • Alumni discount: University of Bristol students and graduates can benefit from a 25% reduction in tuition fees for postgraduate study.

Research Groups

  • The School hosts three overarching research themes:
    • Microbiology and materials (M&M)
    • Epidemiology and health services research (EHSR)
    • Education research (ER)
  • Embedded within each research theme are the clinical research and patient communities, providing an infrastructure that - through high quality clinical trials, biobanking and recording, and cohort studies - delivers translation of pre-clinical research aligned with the research themes, as well as the clinical specialties fundamental to dental research.
