Loading and Unloading a Horse

Overview

Get the knowledge for and learn the welfare aspects of loading and unloading horses from a vehicle during this three-hour course.


Full Description

The course is a mixture of both theory and practical elements and topics covered include:


  • checking the floor and ramps
  • opening and lowering ramps
  • adjusting fixtures and fittings
  • leading a horse into the vehicle
  • securing a horse for transport
  • leading a horse out of the vehicle

The training also provides a Coach Endorsement opportunity for those undertaking BHS Stage 2. If you meet the criteria, your BHS Equine Excellence Skills Record will be signed.


The instructor/student ratio is 1:12.

This programme is designed for people (over age 14) who want to know how to load and unload horses from vehicles.
