Degree Overview:

This program introduces the fundamentals of human-centred design of products and systems, with a focus on interactive technologies and experiences. The Audio and Acoustics specialisation will differentiate your skill set and enable you to work in the emerging area of interactive sound. This degree is aimed at talented people who are seeking a career in user experience, interaction design, or who wish to use technology creatively for design and commercial purposes.

Teaching:

You will learn to design across multiple platforms and scales – from wearable computing and mobile applications to interactive architecture, responsive environments and urban informatics. Through a series of collaborative design studios and technical workshops, you will acquire the essential knowledge and skills for envisioning, creating and evaluating innovative solutions to a range of design challenges.

As a graduate of the Master of Interaction Design and Electronic Arts, you will become proficient in the creative use of new technologies which they can then utilise in a practical way in a wide range of professional and artistic settings. Specialising in Audio and Acoustics will enable you to work in the emerging area of interactive sound in entertainment, buildings and public spaces. You will also build a compelling portfolio showcasing not only your design skills but also your understanding of how best to convey the user experience of new products and services. The course culminates in a capstone research project, industry internship or graduation design project. Our building houses the only indoor environmental quality (IEQ) laboratory in the southern hemisphere, an extensive research lighting laboratory and outstanding audio and acoustics facilities, including an anechoic chamber and recording studio.
