The Advanced Engineering Management Programme (AEM) is a joint venture between the School of Engineering and the Birmingham Business School, combining the expertise and strengths of both schools to offer a high-quality, distinctive, and flexible course. The program addresses management in engineering industries in its broadest sense. The purpose is to provide advanced training to graduates aspiring to higher or middle management positions requiring expertise in project, systems, and operations management. It covers the fundamental principles, concepts, and practices in managing the business of organizations involved in providing engineering services and products as well as advanced engineering methods, tools, and technologies that underpin the evolving engineering industries in the era of the 4th industrial revolution.

The program includes lectures, tutorials, workshops, seminars, and an individual project. The delivery of the program is designed with the needs of young professionals in mind and is supported by the provision of online material. It can be followed on a full-time or part-time basis.
