The Master of Arts (Teaching Studies) is a postgraduate degree program offered by the University of Birmingham's School of Education. - There are a small number of taught sessions for Masters-level learners who may have been away from research for a while.
- Each student receives individualised supervisory tuition with face-to-face tutorials, which may be carried out online or in face-to-face meetings (agreed individually between tutor and student).
- Students have opportunities to join optional 'taking stock' meetings and enroll in University of Birmingham Research Methods training.

A Masters in Teaching Studies will provide you with significant evidence for future career development. You may also wish to use the MA Teaching Studies as part of an application to Doctoral Study.

- The program involves completion of a 60-credit dissertation of 15,000 words, prepared over the course of an academic year and submitted in the following September.

Entry Requirements:
- Home UK Students:
- Must hold 120 credits towards Masters Study.
- Where these credits are all from another institution, if they are in the form of a single postgraduate award (a PGDipEd/ PGDE) where that award is deemed to be a Masters level award of 120 credits, at least 90 credits must be at Level M and a maximum of 30 can be at Level H.
- Where these credits are all or partly from another institution, if they are not in the form of a single postgraduate award (a PGDipEd/ PGDE) all 120 credits must be at Level M.
- Must receive a satisfactory reference from an academic and/ or professional person who can comment on your academic learning and/or professional practice in learning and teaching.
- Must provide a personal statement that clearly explains a rationale for wanting to complete an MA where learning and teaching is the focus. This is mandatory for applicants who have not completed 120 Credits of study at the University of Birmingham.
- Must provide evidence (via your previous qualification(s), personal statement and/ or reference) that earlier study contributing the 120 credits was in an area relevant to learning and teaching practice.
