Degree Overview:
This joint MSc Data Science and Artificial Intelligence program offers a unique opportunity to study in two countries, benefiting from the expertise and industry links of both IIT Madras and the University of Birmingham. The program aims to provide students with a global perspective on data science and AI, equipping them with the fundamental principles and recent advances in these rapidly evolving fields.

Outline:
Program Structure:
The program offers two options:
- Option 1:
- Seven months at IIT Madras, including a short industrial placement.
- Transfer to Birmingham for 12 months, completing a research project.
- Option 2:
- Seven months at IIT Madras, including a short industrial placement.
- Transfer to Birmingham for five months.
- Return to IIT Madras for a research project.

- Birmingham: January onwards (Option 1) or January to June (Option 2).

Entry Requirements:
- Indian undergraduate: Bachelor’s degree with 60% and above in Science and/or Engineering
- Other: Equivalent of a UK 2:1 Honours degree in a numerate discipline (Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, Engineering, Economics, or another programme with substantial Mathematics content).
Language Proficiency Requirements:
- IELTS: 6.5 overall with no less than 6.0 in any band.
- Equivalencies from the Indian Standard XII English:
- 80% from ISC, CBSE, and Maharashtra
- 75% from West Bengal
- 85% from Other State boards
- TOEFL: 88 overall with no less than 21 in Reading, 20 in Listening, 22 in Speaking and 21 in Writing
- PTE Academic: 67 with no less than 64 in all four skills.
- Applicants with appropriate grades in Standard XII English (English Core/English Elective/Functional English in CBSE) do not require additional SELT qualifications.
Note:
A valid English qualification is required on the enrolment date of the programme, not the arrival date to the UK for the part of the programme studied at Birmingham.
