Program Overview


The online Mammography Certificate prepares radiologic technologists for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists' certification exam and meets MQSA standards. The program is 100% online, with students completing didactic coursework in one year (or two years if desired). Graduates are eligible for mammography careers and may apply their credits towards a Bachelor's Degree in Radiation Science Technology.

Degree Overview:

The online Mammography Certificate program is designed to prepare graduates for eligibility to apply for the post-primary certification examination in mammography offered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. It is also designed to meet or exceed requirements set forth in the Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA) for minimum didactic and clinical standards for mammographers. 100% of the didactic portion of the program is online.


Teaching:

The program is 100% online. Students are only admitted to the program in fall semester. The curriculum is designed to be completed in two semesters (one year) but students may spread it over two years if they choose. Students must obtain their own clinical site and clinical preceptor.


Careers:

This program is designed to prepare the radiologic technologist for a career as a mammographer.


Other:

Students may also apply all mammography course credits toward the Bachelor's Degree program in Radiation Science Technology which is also 100% online.

Admission Requirements

Entry Requirements:

To be admitted to the Mammography certificate program, applicants must demonstrate certification as a radiographer with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. Applicants must also provide certified transcripts documenting the completion of an associate of applied science (AAS) degree with a minimum final grade point average of 2.5.
