• Students will demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of dialectal and standard Irish (An Caighdeán Oifigiúil) from the beginning of the Modern Irish period to the present day, attaining a C1 level or higher on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages or its equivalent.
• Students will demonstrate an ability to produce a work of research under supervision and a capacity to undertake future unsupervised research.
• Students will discriminate areas of academic specialization that are best suited to their strengths as postgraduate students, as research scholars, and as professionals.
• Students will provide evidence of an advanced knowledge of Modern Irish language, literature, history, and culture, and have an ability to reflect critically on these areas.
