Program Overview
Overview of the Irish-Medium and Gaeltacht Education (M.Ed.) Program
The Irish-Medium and Gaeltacht Education (M.Ed.) program is designed for individuals who are qualified as teachers and have an interest in education through the medium of Irish. This program aims to provide participants with high-quality improvements in their educational practice and language skills.
Program Structure
The program consists of eight modules, all of which are mandatory. Seven modules are taken in the first year, and the remaining two modules are taken in the second year. The program uses a blended learning approach, combining online and on-campus lectures, which take place after school hours, at weekends, and during school holidays. This flexible approach is designed to accommodate individuals who work full-time.

- An dea-chleachtas i suíomhanna Gaeltachta agus lán-Ghaeilge (10 ECTS)
- An teagasc agus an fhoghlaim i suíomhanna scoile lán-Ghaeilge agus Gaeltachta (10 ECTS)
- An cleachtas pleanála agus measúnaithe (10 ECTS)
- An cheannasaíocht agus an bhainistíocht (10 ECTS)
- Múinteoirí lán-Ghaeilge agus Gaeltachta mar thaighdeoirí (10 ECTS)
- Inníulacht teanga sa Ghaeilge (10 ECTS)
- An tráchtas (30 ECTS)
Admission Requirements
To be eligible for the program, applicants must have:
- Proficiency in Irish at B1 level on the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages
- Registration with the Teaching Council
- An interview
Course Fees
The program fees are as follows:
- The Department of Education pays a significant portion of the fees for participants in this program.
- Participants are required to pay €650 per year from their own pockets.
