Overview of the Postgraduate Certificate in Healthcare Innovation

The Postgraduate Certificate in Healthcare Innovation is a 23-week program that equips students with the skills to identify and respond to healthcare innovation opportunities. The program is supported by Health Innovation Hub Ireland and is designed to empower students to investigate a diverse range of innovation-related topics and act on opportunities in various healthcare contexts.

Admission Requirements

  • Eligibility: Funding eligibility is as outlined by Springboard+.
  • Academic Requirements: Applicants must be in possession of a level 8 honours degree (or equivalent) with grade 2.1 or higher, in any discipline from a recognised institution.
  • Language Requirements: All applicants whose first language is not English and who have not been educated through the medium of English must present qualifications in the English language that pass the grades set by IELTS or TOEFL (or equivalent).
  • Other Requirements: All students are required to have a laptop or a PC, a webcam, and stable Internet connection.

Course Content

The program consists of three modules:


  1. Innovation and Creativity in Healthcare (10 ECTS): This module explores the principles and practices associated with creativity and innovation in a healthcare context.
  2. Opportunity Generation, Recognition, and Communication (10 ECTS): The aim of this module is to provide students with the tools to generate and recognize entrepreneurial opportunities and to communicate and articulate such opportunities in an influential manner.
  3. Enterprise Development in Healthcare (10 ECTS): This module focuses specifically on the creation, development, growth, and funding of innovation-driven new ventures in healthcare.

Course Fees

  • Full Fees: €3,800
  • Funding: The course is 100% funded for those in unemployment and 90% funded for those in employment by Springboard+.
