Integrated Children's and General Nursing
The Integrated Children's and General Nursing course is a five-year, full-time program that leads to a B.Sc. (Cur.) Honours Bachelor Degree (NFQ Level 8). The course is designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills, attitudes, and professional values necessary to provide high-quality, competent, and caring practice in the discipline of nursing.
Overview
The role of the nurse is to provide evidence-based, culturally-sensitive care to assist individuals in leading an independent, healthy lifestyle, overcoming ill health, or experiencing a peaceful death. Nursing students learn about caring and the complexities of health and illness through interactive teaching and learning strategies in the classroom and healthcare environment.

Admission Requirements
- Leaving Certificate: O6/H6 in Mathematics, O6/H6 in one of Biology, Physics, Chemistry, Physics/Chemistry, or Agricultural Science
- GCSE: Grade C/5 in Mathematics, Grade C/5 in one of Biology, Physics, or Chemistry
- International Baccalaureate: SL Grade 4 Mathematics, SL Grade 4 in one of Biology, Physics, or Chemistry
- Mature Applicants: Applications must be received by the CAO by 1st February of the proposed year of entry
- English Language Requirements: All applicants to Trinity are required to provide official evidence of proficiency in the English language, with applicants to this course required to meet Band B (Standard Entry) English language requirements

Theoretical Component
The theoretical component of the course will be taught in the Trinity School of Nursing and Midwifery building, the main Trinity campus, and in the Trinity Centre for Health Sciences in St. James’s Hospital. Teaching methods include lectures, tutorials, practical classes, clinical skills laboratories, group teaching, web-based learning, and reflective workshops.
Practical Component
For the practice component, students will be linked with one of the health service providers and also have clinical/community placements in a variety of settings. During the fourth year of the course, students will undertake a 36-week roster of continuous placement. This placement spans the fourth and fifth years of the Children’s and General Nursing (Integrated) course.
International Placements
The Erasmus programme enables students to study at another European university as part of their university degree. This is an exciting opportunity for students to experience a core clinical placement in another EU healthcare system for a maximum period of eight weeks.
