Program Overview
This online CPD in Statistics and Regression Analysis provides participants with the skills to analyze social data using statistical methods and R software. Over six weeks, participants will attend synchronous classes, complete asynchronous tutorials, and engage in self-study. Upon completion, participants will receive a Certificate of Completion and be equipped with valuable data analysis skills sought after in various sectors.

Outline:
- The Statistics and Regression Analysis course provides participants with an understanding of key statistical and econometric methods used to analyze social data and how to implement them using the statistical software package R.
- The CPD overviews key statistical concepts necessary to analyze social data, introduces participants to regression analysis, and demonstrates the use of these methods with practical applications.
- On completing the CPD, participants will be able to:
- Explain and apply statistical terminology to the analysis of social data.
- Formulate questions in the language and abstractions of statistics.
- Solve simple problems related to the topics in the CPD.
- Conduct their own basic statistical analysis using R.
Teaching:
- The CPD will be delivered online over six weeks.
- The course will commence on Thursday 15th February and will conclude on Thursday 21st March.
- There will be one synchronous one-hour class on Thursdays at 6pm.
- There will also be three hours of asynchronous material for the first five weeks of the course, incorporating:
- Five one-hour videos based on the online lecture.
- Five one-hour tutorials on R programming.
- One hour of self-study time.
- There will be a take-home assignment for the last week, totaling five hours.

- Participants are often working in the IT, finance, and banking sectors.
- This CPD will also be of interest to individuals who wish to progress their careers through acquiring valuable social data analysis skills that are widely sought after in the private, public, and non-profit sectors.
Other:
- Participants are expected to have basic computer skills and some quantitative experience through prior training, such as degree or equivalent experience.
- The CPD lecturer is Mr. Cian O'Shea, Department of Economics, School of Social Sciences and Philosophy at Trinity College Dublin.
- On successful completion of the program, participants will be awarded the Certificate of Completion in Statistics and Regression Analysis. To qualify, participants will need to have completed all required CPD exercises.
