Program Overview
Overview of the Nursing - Advancing Child Health and Wellbeing Program
The Nursing - Advancing Child Health and Wellbeing program is designed to enable students to strengthen and develop the knowledge, skills, competencies, and attitudes necessary to advance care for the health and wellbeing of children, young people, and families. The modules offered are grounded in a body of evidence-based knowledge that promotes excellence in contemporary nursing practice.

Admission Requirements
Applicants must hold at least an upper second-class (2.1) Honours undergraduate degree in nursing or a related discipline or equivalent professional and academic qualification. They must also hold current registration as a nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland, or, in the case of international applicants (for theory-only learning strands), be registered as a professional nurse in their own country.
English Language Requirements
All applicants to Trinity are required to provide official evidence of proficiency in the English language. Applicants to this course are required to meet Band B (Standard Entry) English language requirements.
Course Structure
There is a flexible approach where students now have the option to complete the M.Sc. over 3 years with the option to exit with a Postgraduate Certificate, Postgraduate Diploma, or an M.Sc.
- Year One: Starts with a full week of studying in September and continues thereafter one day per week for the remainder of the academic year.
- Year Two: Consists of classes and workshops throughout the academic year. A blended learning approach is utilised in the delivery of theoretical content, which includes lectures, group discussions, and self-directed learning.
Course Content
- P.Grad.Cert. students: Take three specialist modules:
- Childhood Adversity: Understanding the Impact of Childhood Adversity on the Life of the Infant, Child, and Young Person
- Advancing Care Closer to Home: Contemporary Issues in Children’s Nursing and Healthcare
- Integrated Care Delivery for the Child and Family
- Postgraduate Diploma students: Take a further three modules:
- Theory and Practice of Enquiry Methods for Healthcare
- Ethics and Law in Health and Social Care
- Digital Health – Understanding the Application of Technology in Modern Healthcare
- M.Sc. candidates: Take all Diploma modules in one year; In Year Two, Masters students must complete a dissertation.
