Program Overview


Program Overview

The Practical Frameworks for Innovation Micro-credential is an interdisciplinary program that targets individuals in roles where innovation frameworks can be applied, including innovators, entrepreneurs, and those working in large companies or as educators with the UN SDGs. This program aims to upskill a workforce threatened by increasing amounts of information, global challenges, and improper use of AI.

Admission Requirements

  • Applicants must have a Level 8 Honours degree (or equivalent) in any discipline, with priority given to those with demonstrated interest in systems thinking, design thinking, creative problem-solving, and/or innovation and entrepreneurship.
  • Applicants without the required degree but with three or more years of relevant work experience can apply via Recognition of Prior Learning.
  • All applicants must provide:
    • Curriculum Vitae (2 pages max)
    • Statement of Interest (300 words max)
    • Level 8 Degree (clear photo of parchment or copy of transcripts)
  • Telephone interviews may be conducted to clarify applicants’ motivation and interest in the program.
  • Applicants whose first language is not English must meet Trinity’s Post Graduate Admissions requirement policy for English language proficiency.

Course Fees

  • The course qualifies for a 50% subsidy from the EU Fee under the HCI Fees Subsidy for eligible candidates.
  • The subsidized course fee for EU candidates is €647.
  • Non-EU learners may have a different fee, and their subsidy will vary.

Course Content

The program introduces three essential innovation frameworks: creative problem-solving, design thinking, and systems thinking. It offers a comprehensive introduction to each framework, highlighting key concepts and tools, with a focus on solving real-world problems.


Course Structure

  • The course starts with an in-person orientation.
  • Most sessions (Weeks 2-6) are delivered online.
  • The course concludes with an in-person finale and innovation sprint in Week 7.
  • A draft timetable is available upon request.

Assessment

  • Innovation sprint (group presentation): 50%
  • Reflective essay including video submission (individual assessment): 50%
