The B.A. in Physical Sciences at Trinity College Dublin is a four-year program that provides a comprehensive foundation in physics, mathematics, and other science subjects. The B.A. (Moderatorship) Honours Bachelor Degree in Physical Sciences (TR063) is a four-year program designed for students with a passion for problem-solving.

  • Enhance problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Foster a strong foundation in mathematics and other science disciplines.
  • Prepare students for lifelong careers in research, industry, or business.

Outline:


First and Second Years:

  • Foundation topics in physics, including classical and quantum mechanics, electromagnetism, special relativity, and thermodynamics.
  • Mathematics and open modules from other science subjects.

Third and Fourth Years:

  • Central topics such as quantum mechanics, statistical physics, and condensed matter physics.
  • Specialization in one of three moderatorships:
  • Physics and Astrophysics: Specialized astrophysics topics in stellar and galactic structures, planetary and space science, cosmology, nuclear physics and structure, and high energy physics.
