Program Structure
The micro-credential is delivered in a blended format (in-person/online) with 3 in-person days and 2 online days (full day) over a 12-week period. The program includes:
- In-person tutorials and problem-based learning in the simulation suite
- Online classes
- Additional online lectures, including guest lectures from subject experts
- Online resources for directed learning
Assessment
There are two assessment components:
- Scenario Planning Document (50%)
- Simulation OSCE (50%)
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of the program, participants will be able to:
- Apply education strategies required for simulation practice
- Develop scenarios specific to the clinical healthcare setting
- Apply these scenarios utilizing a range of fidelity patient simulators
- Identify and apply the IT infrastructure and platforms to manage a simulation session
- Manage a simulation session and measure the necessary outcomes of their planned session
Program Benefits
The Application of Simulation Practice in Healthcare micro-credential promotes patient safety by teaching clinical and non-behavioral skills required in the healthcare setting. Simulation can also address quality issues by identifying system and human factors issues, allowing for improvements in workflows in the healthcare setting.
