Overview
The P.Grad.Dip. in Fire Safety Practice is a one-year course that enhances knowledge of fire safety in buildings, helping students progress in their careers in the area. The course is supported by the Chief Fire Officers Association, recognised by the Institution of Fire Engineers for membership, and approved by Engineers Ireland for continuing professional development.

This course is designed for postgraduate students with a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Architecture, or a related field, interested in pursuing a career in fire safety design or engineering, fire risk assessment, or related fields. Course Structure
The Fire Safety Practice programme is worth 45 ECTS, with students taking two taught modules (15 ECTS each) and a coursework module (15 ECTS). Lectures are normally held on Friday evenings and Saturday mornings throughout the two semesters.

- Fire, safety, and health legislation
- The Building Control Act, 1990, and Building Regulations (TGD B)
- The Fire Services Acts, 1981 and 2003

Admission Requirements
Applicants must have an Honours degree in Civil Engineering or Architecture. Other suitably qualified construction professionals may also be admitted. A candidate may be interviewed to establish their suitability for the course.
English Language Requirements
All applicants must provide official evidence of proficiency in the English language, meeting Band B (Standard Entry) requirements.
