Program Overview


Overview of the Cultural Intersections in the History of Art II Course

This part of the Cultural Intersections in the History of Art course examines the influence of different global cultures on the history of Western art from the medieval period to the twentieth century. Organised thematically, Dr Rachel Moss will consider how different factors such as religious conversion, trade, and the age of discovery impacted artistic styles and techniques and introduced new fashions to Western art and architecture.


Course Details

  • The course is a lecture-only module comprising two lectures per week over one term, commencing in January 2025.
  • The course is led by Dr Rachel Moss, an art and architectural historian with a particular interest in medieval Ireland.
  • Her research has developed from doctoral studies in Romanesque architecture and sculpture to focus on the later medieval period, in particular the social context of medieval art and architecture.

Fees and Concessions

  • The full rate for the course is €85.
  • A concession rate of €60 is available to all those retired, over 65s, and those on a government pension/payment plan and the unwaged, including second- and third-level students.
