Program Details: Gender: History, Culture, and Representation

Overview

This lecture-only module examines the histories and representations of gender, seeking to understand how it is constructed by societies, institutions, and individuals through the critical analysis of texts, works of art, and public actions. The operation of gender as a tool of analysis will be examined in histories of the body, sexuality, medicine, religion, politics, institutions, and representations in a variety of texts and contexts.


Date, Time, and Place

Lectures will take place once per week, commencing in January 2025. The time and venue are yet to be confirmed.


Course Fees

The course fee is €85 for the full rate and €60 for the concession rate. The concession rate is available to retirees, over 65s, and the unwaged, including second- and third-level students.
