Animal Sciences: Race Track Industry Emphasis

Overview

The Bachelor of Science in Animal Sciences with a Race Track Industry emphasis is a unique program centered on the racing industry. Students can choose from two paths of study: one that prepares them for race track management, regulation, or pari-mutuel racing organizations, and the other that focuses on careers in racing and breeding. The program combines science and business concepts with hands-on opportunities in the field, including internships at race tracks and farms.


Learning Outcomes

  • Apply knowledge of animal science disciplines for the improvement of animal health and welfare, animal industry practices, and products and services.
  • Critically evaluate global and contemporary issues affecting animal well-being and animal industries.
  • Communicate the contribution of animals, animal products, and animal services to society across media platforms.
  • Analyze diverse animal industry systems to sustain economic and environmental resources in a socially responsible manner.
  • Apply professional ethics, laws, and regulations that guide the animal husbandry, welfare, and treatment of animals, and treatment of industry employees.
