About Program

Program Overview


The Doctor of Dental Science (DDSc) is a professional doctorate awarded in dental science that provides specialist clinical training in Endodontics. It takes 36 months to complete full-time, with the first six weeks focusing on intensive phantom head training. Students will then move on to their clinical placement, dealing with real patients and using specialist equipment, whilst being supervised by specialists in the field.

Admission Requirements

Entry Requirements:

  • For all applicants:
  • Graduates in Dental Surgery of the University of Liverpool.
  • Graduates with a dental first degree from another approved university, which is recognised by the General Dental Council.
  • Graduates with a dental first degree from another approved university, which is not recognised by the General Dental Council.
  • International qualifications:
  • Applications from international students are welcome.
  • Other requirements:
  • 2 years of post-qualification relevant clinical experience.
  • MFDS/MJDF or an equivalent.

Language Proficiency Requirements:

  • For applicants whose first language is not English:
  • Documentary evidence of their competency in English is required.
  • The Faculty of Health and Life Sciences English Language Requirement is band E.
  • Accepted qualifications include:
  • GCSE English
  • GCE O level English

  • TOEFL
  • Cambridge Proficiency

  • 100 overall, with no element lower than 22

  • Pre-Sessional English:
  • Available for international applicants who do not meet the minimum required standard of English language.
