Degree Overview:

The Diploma Transfer Program at Mohamed Almana College for Medical Sciences is designed to provide diploma graduates with the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to become qualified nurses or pharmacists.


Objectives:

  • To provide high-quality education to graduate professional health-care providers primed to community needs and research.
  • To equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills to pursue a career in healthcare-related professions.

Program Description:

  • The program is a 5-year program, including a 1-year Foundation Year, 3 years of Nursing or Pharmacy program, and a 1-year internship.
  • The program covers a range of humanities, social/behavioral sciences, ethics, and biological and health sciences courses.
  • The program exposes students to major nursing or pharmacy courses and minor courses such as human anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, nutrition, and pharmacology.
  • The program offers students practical training in different clinical settings, such as hospitals, clinics, community health agencies, and homes for the elderly.

Assessment:

  • A variety of assessment techniques are used to assess the knowledge and skill gained during and at the end of each course.
  • Formative assessment includes quizzes, midterm, assignments, projects, clinical skills evaluation, clinical assignments, and other methods to evaluate the ongoing knowledge and skills of the students throughout the semester.
  • The program has a total of 142 credit hours.
  • The internship program for Nursing spans 52 weeks and allows interns to hone their practical skills, apply their knowledge, and demonstrate competency.
  • The internship program is divided into two parts:
  • Part 1 includes a general rotation in all medical surgical, maternity, pediatric, critical, and management areas.
  • Part 2 provides opportunities for students to further develop and refine their nursing care skills in a specialty area of interest, with a focus on provision of holistic care to clients and their families.

  • High School: 90% for General Stream or 80% for Advanced Stream or 75% for Elite Stream
  • English: EmSAT 1100 or Academic IELTS 5.00 or TOEFL (PBT 500 or IBT 61 or CBT 173)
  • Math: EmSAT 900 or UD Math Placement Test
  • Physics: EmSAT 800, or minimum high school Physics 80%
  • Chemistry or Biology: EmSAT 600, or minimum high school Chemistry or Biology 80%
