About ADVETI

Abu Dhabi Vocational Education and Training Institute (ADVETI) is an initiative of the Abu Dhabi Government and is under the umbrella of the Abu Dhabi Centre for Technical & Vocational Education and Training (ACTVET). ADVETI was established in 2007 and has five entities: Al Jazirah Institute of Science and Technology in Abu Dhabi, Al Jaheli Institute of Science and Technology in Al Ain, Baynounah Institute of Science and Technology in Al Dhafra, Al Jazirah Institute of Science and Technology in Al Shahama, and Vocational Education Development Centre (VEDC).

Admission

Most students applying for a place in an ADVETI Institute enter in the fall term at the beginning of the academic year in September, but admission is also possible at the beginning of the Winter term in January. All students are notified of the outcome of their application by the Institute of their choice. Where student applications exceed the number of places available, priority is given to current High School graduates who have applied through the NAPO system, then to applications from mature applicants.

ADVETI programs have been specifically designed to provide graduates with the knowledge, and vocational and employability skills they need in the workplace. All delivery at ADVETI is in English. Students graduate from their Institute with a level of English proficiency enabling them to work competently in an English-speaking environment.

Mechanical Engineering Technology

Introduction

Mechanical Engineering Technology graduates can continue their professional studies in Higher Education to Advanced Diploma. They will have opportunities to move into professional engineering roles such as Mechanical Engineer, Mechanical Research Engineer, Mechanical Design Engineer, Automotive Engineer, Manufacturing Engineer, Nuclear Engineer, Proposal Engineering Coordinator, Quality Control/Assurance Engineer, and Systems Engineer.

Functional Skills

• Monitoring technical aspects of manufacture, installation, and utilization.
• Maintenance and repair of machines and mechanical installations, facilities, and components to ensure satisfactory performance and compliance with specifications and regulations.
• Assembling and installing new and modified mechanical assemblies, components, machine tools, and controls, and hydraulic power systems.
• Conducting tests of mechanical systems and assembling and installing mechanical assemblies.
• Checking completed installations for safety.

21st Century Skills

• Skills related to designing, testing, troubleshooting, using, repairing, and maintaining mechanical systems, installations, and equipment.
• Critical thinking, time management, teamwork, control precision.
• Approaching non-routine problems by applying expert and creative solutions.
• Use of systems and digital technology, practical design and build skills.
• Experimental and testing techniques.

ADVETI has five campuses located in Abu Dhabi, Al Shahama, Al Ain, and Al Dhafra Region, each campus offering modern, high-tech facilities for study and learning. The campuses feature up-to-date facilities including workshops, labs, libraries, and gyms, with open study spaces outside office hours and a safe environment.

Business Development Unit

The ADVETI Business Development Unit (BDU) interacts with all other ADVETI units as well as the local community and works closely with a broad spectrum of industries, businesses, government offices, banks, etc., in areas of initiating, managing, and marketing ADVETI training programs. This unit is the focal point in ADVETI for all training activities. ADVETI's business development unit is capable of designing and delivering any corporate tailor-made training program that all business and industry sectors would like to train their associates on. ADVETI is professionally capable of designing the program that you desire based on international standards and local accreditation.

Alumni

Once you have graduated from one of ADVETI's Institutes, you become a member of the ADVETI Alumni Association; it is a powerful network as you will be one of ADVETI's Alumni across the UAE. The main aim of the association is to keep you connected to us and current students, hear your news, and support you to achieve your lifelong career goals.

E-Services

The student services department provides administrative support to students and the academic team. All students' admission and enrollment activities are handled by the Student Services department, as well as student progression up to graduation. In addition to providing detailed information on students' policies, procedures, and regulations, the Student Services department provides counseling services to students and organizes different student activities in coordination with the academic services and operations departments.
