Mechanical Engineering Program
The Mechanical Engineering program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive education in the field of mechanical engineering. Engineering goes beyond an academic concept, involving works of national heritage, environmental dimension, biological sciences, logistics engineering, and various engineering activities and works based on theoretical guidelines, physical definition, and basic rules and equations.
Mission
The mission of the Mechanical Engineering program is to pursue quality, innovation, and excellence in teaching, applied learning, and entrepreneurial research. The program aims to foster strong community, corporate, industrial, and academic partnerships locally and internationally, and to promote cultural diversity within the Mechanical Engineering field.
Program Educational Objectives
The Mechanical Engineering program prepares its graduates to:
- Apply their Mechanical Engineering education as active contributors in the workforce.
- Effectively communicate technical information in a diverse and globally integrated society.
- Demonstrate their commitment to continued professional development through training, coursework, and/or professional society involvement.
Student Outcomes
Upon completion of the program, students will be able to:
- Identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics.
- Apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors.
- Communicate effectively with a range of audiences.
- Recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, considering the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts.
- Function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive environment, establish goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives.
- Develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions.
- Acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning strategies.
