Program Overview

Designed for the UAE job market, the program prepares graduates to excel in digital libraries, databases, and electronic archiving, with a focus on innovation, communication, and teamwork. Upon completion, students receive a certified Bachelor of Library and Information Science degree, opening doors to diverse career opportunities in libraries, information centers, and digital environments.

Program Outline

It is accredited by the Ministry of Education and currently offers a Bachelor of Science degree program with a credit hour system. The program is designed to meet the needs of the UAE job market, given the rapid growth of libraries, information centers, national archives, and documentation centers across various institutions in the country. The program primarily uses Arabic as the language of instruction, with some courses taught in English through a flexible credit hour system that aligns with students' abilities and potential.

• The courses focus on developing specialists in library and information science who possess the necessary skills to manage various information institutions and keep pace with ongoing developments towards a knowledge society and digital transformation in the UAE.
• To graduate students who possess knowledge and practical skills, and to qualify them to possess a distinguished level of academic knowledge that qualifies them to join the job market and achieve distinguished achievements.
• To offer diverse programs at the postgraduate level (Master's, Doctorate) and the professional level (professional diploma) and to develop knowledge and preserve intellectual output.
• To activate the partnership between the community and the department in a way that achieves service to the local community, and to establish close ties with community institutions, with the aim of developing the department's resources through private entities.
