Program Overview
Zayed University's fully funded Animation program offers a comprehensive curriculum in 3D modeling, animation, and digital media. Students develop skills in storytelling, character design, and visual literacy, preparing them for careers in the animation industry. The program is taught by experienced faculty and provides opportunities for field trips, workshops, and industry collaborations.
Program Outline
It is a 9-semester program (on average) with 120 credit hours. The program is fully funded.
Objectives:
Students develop concepts and technical skills in:
- Three-dimensional computer modeling and animation
- Digital video
- Web design They explore various virtual visualizations including:
- Text animation and motion graphics
- Character animation
- Storytelling
- Architectural modeling, rendering, and animation
Outline:
Program Content:
- Core Curriculum: Students are required to take courses that provide a foundation in the creative disciplines.
- Specialization: Students branch into the specialization of their choice after completing foundation courses.
- Intermingling: Students from all specializations interact in courses, creating a rich learning environment.
- Field Trips: Students participate in field trips to museums, galleries, archeological and architectural sites.
- University Events: Students become involved in various University events and activities.
Program Structure:
- Duration: 8 semesters
- Location: Abu Dhabi and Dubai campuses
- Course Delivery Format: 8-week terms, classes generally scheduled on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, Thursday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Modules:
- Theory and History of Animation: Students identify and classify animation styles and production processes from the history of animation practice and utilize them in contemporary contexts.
- Professional Art & Design Practice: Students communicate ideas, narratives, or concepts to various audiences while following time-management and appropriate communication skills. They apply art and design skills in animation and professional practices of the animation field.
- Critical Thinking: Students develop animation projects and defend creative visual outcomes to an informed audience. They participate in critical discussions of the arts and their relationship to the creative process with a focus on animation.
- Visual Literacy: Students analyze complex visual and spatial problems to develop innovative animation and design solutions.
- Information Technology: Students use and combine traditional and emerging hardware and software technologies in the execution of animation projects.
- Teamwork and Leadership: Students provide creative and constructive input to pursue shared goals and collaborate effectively in animation production projects.
