Program Outline

Degree Overview:

The Fashion Design Degree at Politecnico di Milano offers an interdisciplinary approach to fashion design, providing students with the cultural, scientific, methodological, and technical-instrumental elements necessary for a career in the field. The program focuses on developing students' understanding of materials, technologies, product development, image and communication, 3D modeling and prototyping, management, and design directions. The program aims to prepare students for careers as fashion designers, not as stylists, emphasizing the importance of industry knowledge and constraints.

Careers:

Graduates in Fashion Design can apply for positions in professional studios or companies in the fashion fields of clothing and accessories and related industries (textile, fashion, accessory, jewellery, knitwear) as well as in upholstery companies with particular reference to textile furnishing accessories (household linen and home wear).

Other:

Students can customize their education in fashion by choosing from different areas of study, including menswear, womenswear, kidswear, jewelry and fashion accessories, knitwear, sportswear, underwear, and beachwear. Graduates in Fashion Design may continue their studies with a Laurea Magistrale (equivalent to Master of Science) in Design for the Fashion System. With admission always subject to an evaluation, graduates may choose other Master of Science programmes or 1st level Specializing Masters.
