Program Description: This is a 4-year graduate entry MBBS program delivered in collaboration with the University of Cumbria at the Pears Cumbria School of Medicine.
Objectives: The program aims to train clinicians who are innovative, adaptable, and focused on delivering high-quality, person-centered care.
Widening Access: The program is committed to widening access to under-represented groups in medicine and does not have any GCSE or A-level requirements.

Pre-Foundation Assistantship: Defined role and responsibilities within a local clinical team, participating in activities similar to those of a newly qualified doctor.
Elective Period: Opportunity to organize an extended placement, either in the UK or abroad.

Outcomes:
Graduation with an MBBS degree, a primary medical qualification (PMQ), entitling graduates to provisional registration with the GMC and a license to practice in approved Foundation Year 1 posts.
Support in applying for a Foundation Year 1 post through the UK Foundation Programme selection scheme.
On successful completion of Foundation Year 1, graduates can apply for full registration with the GMC before entering Foundation Year 2.
Full registration with a license to practice for unsupervised medical practice in the NHS or UK private practice.
Training as a specialist through an NHS scheme, choosing from around seventy different specialties.

Student Agreement: All students are required to sign an agreement upon entry, outlining the responsibilities of both the Pears Cumbria School of Medicine and the student.
Placements and Location of Study:
Clinical placements are completed throughout the degree in partner NHS organizations across North and South Cumbria, including community, primary, and secondary care settings, and mental health.
Travel and temporary accommodation may be required for placements.
A pre-foundation assistantship and an elective period are included in the program.
University of Cumbria Campus, Library, and Facilities:
Students study alongside students from various programs at the University of Cumbria's Carlisle Fusehill Street Campus.
The library provides flexible, accessible, and safe spaces with a range of digital and physical resources.
Disability support is provided by the University of Cumbria.
Denton Holme Student Village offers 249 rooms within 25 townhouses.
Vaccinations:
Students must be immunized against a range of infections to meet health and safety standards for working with patients.
Details of required vaccinations are sent with the offer.
Medical students are also required to be vaccinated against COVID-19.
Blood-borne Infections:
Blood tests for hepatitis B, hepatitis C, and HIV are offered before students are cleared for direct surgical experience.
Testing positive for these infections does not prevent qualification or practice as a doctor, but restricts participation in surgery and other exposure-prone procedures.
Mitigating Circumstances:
Unforeseen, unpreventable circumstances that significantly disrupt academic performance can be considered.
Students must provide appropriate, supportive, and independent evidence.
Resits, Deferred Entry, and Transfers:
Transfers from other medical schools or Imperial College London programs are not accepted.
