Overview
NCFE CACHE Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Sector (Early Years Educator) enables learners to gain the knowledge and experience which will allow them to work with children from birth to 5 years and gain knowledge of children aged 5 to 7 years. Upon achievement of the Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Workforce, it is intended those learners will be able to access higher education or enter the workforce as Early Years Educators.

Do you need to be working to take the qualification?
Before certification, learners must complete a mandatory work/industry placement experience throughout the duration of the qualification. The total number of mandatory work placement hours is a minimum of 300 hours; however, it is recommended that learners undertake 350 hours where possible.

The NCFE CACHE Level 3 Diploma for Working in the Early Years Sector (Early Years Educator) aims to equip learners with the knowledge and experience to work with children aged birth to 5 years, and to gain knowledge of children aged 5 to 7 years. The program intends to prepare learners for higher education or employment as Early Years Educators. The qualification requires 95 credits to complete. The module structure includes the following mandatory units:
- T/651/1390: Introduction to the role of the early years educator (7 credits)
- Y/651/1391: Holistic child development (14 credits)
- A/651/1392: Children with special educational needs and disabilities (7 credits)
- D/651/1393: Effective communication in an early years setting (7 credits)
- F/651/1394: Safeguarding and welfare requirements (10 credits)
- H/651/1395: Health, wellbeing and safety (10 credits)
- J/651/1396: Promoting an effective early years curriculum (15 credits)
- K/651/1397: Assessment of children’s learning and development (9 credits)
- L/651/1398: Understanding play for learning and holistic development (10 credits)
