Program Overview

The PhD in Linguistic History of the Ancient Mediterranean specializes in the languages and cultures of the Aegean of the second millennium BC and of ancient central-southern and insular Italy from the first millennium BC. The three-year interdisciplinary program involves highly specialized skills ranging from linguistic data to archaeological data, taught by a distinguished faculty of both Italian and international professors. The program's focus is on Sicily and the southern Tyrrhenian Sea where Greek and indigenous cultures interacted.
