The program utilizes a dynamic e-learning modality, fostering interaction with leading professionals. The overarching purpose is to provide the concepts, skills, strategies, and tools for professionals to effectively plan, develop, and evaluate training programs that ensure high-quality professional work in sports performance, while upholding ethical commitments and professional responsibility. The program is aimed at graduates in Physical Activity and Sport Sciences or related fields seeking advanced training, graduates in education or health sciences desiring specialization in sports performance, and other university graduates with professional experience in physical activity and sports who wish to update or expand their knowledge in sports performance optimization. Successful completion leads to a Master’s Degree in Sports Performance Optimization issued by the enrolled university.

The Master in Optimization in Sports Performance program has a credit structure of 90 credits, divided into two parts:


1st PART: MANDATORY SUBJECTS (78 credits):

This part is further divided into two phases:

  • INITIAL PHASE: FUNDAMENTALS OF SPORTS TRAINING (30 credits): This phase includes five subjects:
  • Human Anatomy (6 credits)
  • Human Physiology (6 credits)
  • Biomechanics of Human Movement (6 credits)
  • Fundamentals of Training (6 credits)
  • High Performance Planning and Physical Training (6 credits)
  • ADVANCED PHASE: SPORTS PERFORMANCE OPTIMIZATION (45 credits): This phase includes nine subjects:
  • Training Theory and Practice (5 credits)
  • Physiology of High-level Sports Training (5 credits)
  • Monitoring and Quantifying the Training Load in High Performance (5 credits)
  • Planning and Periodization Models of Training in Sports (5 credits)
  • Functional Assessment of the Elite Athlete (5 credits)
  • Strategies for the Prevention and Rehabilitation of Sports Injuries (5 credits)
  • Technological Tools Applied to Training (5 credits)
  • Psychology in High Performance (5 credits)
  • Nutrition and Sports Performance (5 credits)
  • The project should demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the chosen topic and contribute to the studied fields, theoretically and practically. Guidelines for the project are provided to students. The duration of the Master's program is 12 to 24 months, contingent upon successful completion of all evaluations and the Final Project. It only mentions that students must successfully pass all corresponding evaluations and the Final Project to complete the program.
