The Specialization in Tourism Consultancy is designed to develop strategic thinking and instill students with management, leadership, and personal development methods needed by tourism industry executives. It's designed to improve professional knowledge and skills. The program awards a Specialization in Tourism Consultancy degree upon successful completion, awarded by the enrolling university. The program is designed for two groups: those without prior academic degrees wishing to train in tourism and those already certified or professional seeking career advancement.


Objectives:

  • General Objective: To equip students with the skills to interpret tourism phenomena and events from both destination and business perspectives.
  • Specific Objectives:
  • To understand the functional areas of tourism businesses and their management tools.
  • To identify forces driving new travel and tourism models as alternatives to mass tourism.
  • To analyze how information society, new technologies, and environmental awareness influence new business models in travel and tourism.

Outline:

The Tourism Consulting Program has 55 credits and a duration of 12 months (depending on student dedication). It consists of two parts:


Part 1: Subjects (45 credits)

This part covers theoretical, conceptual, and historical foundations of tourism activity, along with organizational, social, and technological implementation. The goal is to provide a broad overview of the tourism sector through various multidisciplinary topics. The subjects include: Tourism foundations (4 credits) Marketing tourism businesses and destinations (6 credits) Business administration and management (4 credits) Strategic Management of tourism companies and destinations (4 credits) Financial management (4 credits) Environmental management of tourism companies (4 credits) Strategic Human Resource management (3 credits) Quantitative analysis of tourism (4 credits) ICT’s in the tourism industry (5 credits) Quality management in tourism businesses and destinations (4 credits) Tourism economics (3 credits) These subjects are structured in a pedagogical sequence from simple to complex. Each subject is divided into thematic units or chapters with printed materials for study and assessment.


Part 2: Final Project (10 credits)

This part, required for Specialization, Postgraduate, and Expert degrees, involves a final project that can be completed concurrently with Part 1.
