Program Overview
FUNIBER's online English language program offers courses at different levels based on the CEFR framework (A1-C1). The program focuses on all aspects of the English language, including grammar, vocabulary, phonetics, and sociocultural contexts.
Program Outline
The course structure is based on independent learning, where students enroll for one year and complete courses at their own pace. The approximate work hours are:
- Elementary Level: Interaction with others is emphasized, assuming the interlocutor speaks slowly and clearly. Communication in simple everyday tasks requiring simple and direct information exchange is emphasized. Describing aspects of one's past and environment related to immediate needs is also included.
- Intermediate Level:
- B1: 120 hours - Focuses on understanding main topics of clear texts on known issues (work, study, leisure). Performing well in travel situations is emphasized. Producing easy and coherent texts on familiar or interesting topics is also included.
- B2: 120 hours - Focuses on understanding main ideas in difficult texts on concrete and abstract topics, even technical ones within one's field. Fluent and natural interaction with native speakers is emphasized. Writing clear and detailed texts on diverse topics and supporting a point of view are also included.
- Advanced Level:
- C1: 120 hours - Focuses on understanding a wide variety of extensive and demanding texts, including implicit meaning. Fluent and spontaneous expression without effort is emphasized. Flexible and effective language use for social, academic, and professional aims is also included. The course content includes:
- All aspects of the English language: grammar, vocabulary, phonetics, spelling.
- Sociocultural aspects of English-speaking countries, their heritage, and diversity.
- Multimedia learning resources with various activities (interactive audio, integrated skills, online follow-ups, pronunciation practice with voice recognition technology).
- Supplementary material on grammar, vocabulary, phonetics, and spelling.
Teaching:
The course uses an independent learning modality. Students learn online with a flexible schedule, study rate, and setting. The online campus provides internet communication tools and a monitoring system with individualized progress reports. The evaluation committee assesses the suitability of the candidature for economic aid in the form of a scholarship. The course is designed following the guidelines of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). The technical requirements for the online course include specific RAM, processor, hard drive space, color depth, audio equipment, operating system, internet speed, and software requirements. Upon successful completion of a course, students receive a certificate issued by UNIB (International Ibero-American University).
